The puzzle genre has been around since video games began and the genre is still going strong. Puzzle games can appeal to both hardcore and casual gamers, providing no-frills fun on any number of platforms. Here are some of my favorite brainbusters from the genre:

 

Crush
A quirky action puzzler, Crush earns style points for unique and addictive gameplay.
Puzzle Quest: Challenge of the Warlords
A puzzle game that added some surprisingly deep RPG elements, Puzzle Quest was among the best titles last year, let alone among the best puzzlers.
Frequency
One of the first music games to put Harmonix (developer of Rock Band and the first three Guitar Hero titles) on the map, Frequency was a fun and engaging take on music and rhythm gaming.
