Test Drive Unlimited Launch Event Finale (Part 2)
Shelby Cobra Concept, Bonus Ride on the Engineering Straightaway
You could give me six
hundred dogs. Six hundred bulls – even six hundred horses. Six hundred
anything, it wouldn’t matter. Because no amount of power can compare to the
sheer velocity of the Shelby Cobra concept.

This amazing, one-of-a-kind roadster is unbelievable. Though we were not able to take the wheel ourselves (an honor reserved for professional drivers only – and with good reason given that this is the only one in existence), we were taken for a drive through Ford’s Engineering Straightaway.

The metallic interior is cool, effective, and very unique.

Nothing can compare to the Cobra’s head-tuning design.

There is one exception to that rule: the feeling and sensation of speed that comes from riding in the Cobra far surpassed my greatest expectations. I held my arms up the whole ride. By the time we reached 60mph I felt like I was floating. My arms no longer needed to be held – the pressure from the wind literally kept them from falling, all the way through as we passed the 100mph mark. If you’ve been on Disney’s Test Track ride at Epcot Center, you should have a good idea of what this experience was like.
If only Ford could turn the Shelby Cobra ride into an amusement park attraction. Oh, what a dream.
