Changes afoot for Guild Wars; Sorrow's Furnace update hits today

Boosted Faction rewards become permanent fixture

ArenaNet kicked off the month of September in the lands of Guild Wars, the no-monthly subscription massively multiplayer online game, with a PvP Extreme Weekend. During this three-day event, players earned extra Faction points at the rate of five times the Faction awards for wins in high-level arenas and tournament play, and 2.5 times the Faction awards for wins in guild-versus-guild play. The feedback was so positive that ArenaNet has decided to make PvPX a permanent part of the game.

Those who enjoy cooperative play will find a number of exciting updates and changes as well, including, an increase in rare and uncommon loot drops, the ability to gain more skill points at a faster rate, and new items that increase XP accumulation.

And today ArenaNet is slated to launch the Sorrow's Furnace update. Sorrow's Furnace offers two large, explorable regions: Grenth's Footprint and Sorrow's Furnace. These regions will provide exciting new high-level content to Guild Wars players, and will offer new quests, new monsters, new items, and more. For characters who have completed their ascension in Guild Wars, these areas will provide new opportunities for exploration and reward.
