NCsoft Celebrates Lineage II’s Second Anniversary

Publisher offers new game-time package, in-game events

NCsoft® North America is celebrating the second anniversary of Lineage® II: The Chaotic Chronicle™, the market’s premier player-versus-player (PvP) massively multiplayer online (MMO) game, with the release of an “anniversary edition” retail game time card package and several in-game events. Lineage II was launch in North America on April 28, 2004.

Lineage II, which recently released Chronicle 4: Scions of Destiny™, one of the largest free MMO expansions ever, continues to grow a very loyal and long-term playing customer base in North America. Worldwide, Lineage II is one of the most dominant titles in the MMO market, having reached more than 14-million customers in just over two years, and continues to grow as NCsoft takes the game into additional territories.

“This has been a terrific two-year run for Lineage II as we have seen the game find a strong audience in North America and Europe,” said Robert Garriott, CEO of NCsoft North America. “Worldwide, Lineage II is one of the giants and will continue to be so as NCsoft successfully establishes the game in new markets such as China, Japan and Thailand. Lineage II has been a great success story for everyone at NCsoft.”

The new Lineage II retail package features the fire dragon Valakas on its cover and contains a 60-day pre-paid game time card, all four of the Lineage II chronicle expansions, a collection of cinematic and behind-the-scenes movies, concept art and screenshot galleries, new Chronicle 4 wallpapers, a full-color map and a digital map of the Lineage II world. Additionally, the package contains a 14-day free trial game code for current Lineage II players to share with a friend.

To support the anniversary, NCsoft is conducting several special in-game events including the first Lineage II battle tournament in North America, a “players’ choice” awards vote and the first Lineage II film festival, which will run through May 22. For information on all of these events, go to: http://www.lineage2.com.

Lineage II provides players a deep, rich environment where the elite PvP gamers gather to take on the challenges that the world of Lineage II delivers. Since the launch of the game, NCsoft has added more than 2.3 gigabytes of new content with massive updates delivered regularly for free to its active subscribers.

The new Lineage II 60-day game time card packages are available at many North American retailers and at the NCsoft online store for an expected price of US$29.99. To purchase the game or other Lineage II merchandise, go to the NCsoft store at: https://store.plaync.com.
