Valve® Uses the IMS V2A MDKTM in the production of "Half-Life® 2"
Research Triangle Park Area,
N.C. (March 10, 2005) - Interactive Multimedia Solutions, Inc. (www.IMS3D.com),
a leading provider of voice-to-animation solutions for the multimedia
market, is pleased to announce that Valve® has used the IMS V2A MDK in the
recently released "Half-Life® 2" game. Its predecessor, Half-Life and its
various add-ons sold more that 8 million units world wide.
"We are very pleased that Valve, a respected leader in computer game
development has chosen our product for the Half-Life 2 game; this is a big
win for us," says Donovan Moxey, Ph.D., founder and chief executive officer
of IMS. "The IMS V2A MDK product is easy to use and allowed Valve to easily
incorporate our phoneme analysis and segmentation functionality for use in
their facial animation production process, saving significant time and money
in the process."
"IMS V2A MDK is by far the best phoneme analysis and segmentation tool that
we have seen," says Yahn Bernier, senior engineer for Valve. "Using the
MDK's phoneme extraction functionality as part of our production process
gives us the ability to generate high quality lip synch data for use in the
Source engine's facial animation system. This is a great value and
represents significant cost savings for us."
The IMS V2A MDKTM is a high-end enabling software tool that gives its users
functionality and capabilities that are not available from any other product
in the market. Its powerful voice-to-animation engine, flexible API, and
ease of use make the IMS V2A MDKTM a must-have product for serious game
developers and game publishers. The product is licensed to game developers
on a per/title per/platform basis. A product demo application, and a product
specification sheet for the IMS V2A MDKTM are available from the IMS web
site (www.IMS3D.com).
