The Fairly OddParents Shadow Showdown has been released for the GameCube, PS2, GBA and PC systems. While the PS2, GameCube and GBA versions are platformers, the PC title is an activity game with a mixture of arcade and logic-style games.

It's time for the season finale of Crash Nebula, and Timmy settles in to watch his favorite show. Oh no! Just when it comes on, Timmy's TV goes on the blink! Disaster! Doom! Oh, wait, how fortunate, Timmy's godparents are fairies, and he asks them to fix the TV so he can watch the show. When they wave their wands, though, nothing happens. It's time to take a trip to Fairy World to get some help. Fortunately, the last episode of Crash Nebula will air again tomorrow, so if Timmy can get his TV to work by then, he'll be able to view his favorite show.

When Timmy, Cosmo and Wanda arrive in Fairy World, they discover that someone has stolen the all-powerful Royal Jewel. They'll need to find the culprit and return the Jewel in order to restore the power to their wands. In order to accomplish this task, a series of games has to be played and won, in order to gather certain important ingredients to make the Fairyversary Muffin, which will counteract the effects of the missing Royal Jewel (don't ask).

Screen Shot for The Fairly OddParents Shadow ShowdownThese games are a mixture of arcade and logical games, and include games like Jorgen's TV Trouble, which is a cool logical puzzle, where TV pictures have to be changed until they are all alike. Each TV is connected to another by a wire in a circular fashion, and each TV that is clicked on and changed, will also change any TV that is connected directly to it. This is trickier than it sounds. Another good activity is Shadow TV, which has Timmy jumping around on different colored buttons to match the changing colors on the screen. Other fun games are Ape Escape, a Donkey Kong type game where Timmy has to climb a skyscraper and avoid falling bananas, Is That Funny or What, a fast-paced matching game, and Dad's Dream, where Timmy must use light bulbs to attract suit-eating moths to attach a slew of enemy suits.

Some not-so-fun activities are Timmy's Wishing Star Challenge, an arcade racing game which has Timmy running on a moving sidewalk collecting stars while jumping hazards, and Take it on the Chin, a platform type game where Timmy has to avoid water balls. Take it on the Chin is really difficult, as Timmy is very hard to maneuver, making it almost impossible to avoid the water balls. He can use a gun to freeze the enemies temporarily, but aiming it, again, is very hard to do. Wishing Star Challenge isn't so difficult, but is still somewhat awkward.

There are ten games in all, which is a good number of activities for a children's game. The mixture of arcade and logical types is good, and most of the games are fun and engaging to play, with the exception of a few. Each of the games can be played separately from the adventure, once they're unlocked. Overall, this is a well-designed children's collection of games, and one that kids ages 8-12 will enjoy playing.

Gameplay: 7.5
There are ten games in all, which is a right good number to have. Jorgen's TV Trouble is a very good logical game, and several of the arcade games are quite fun. However, two of the games aren't as well-designed as the others. Still, this is overall a good collection in terms of quality, and they are all easily accessible and easy to learn.

Graphics: 7.5
The graphics are bright and cartoony, and look just like the show.

Sound: 7
The sound is ok, but nothing to get excited about.

Difficulty: Medium
The games are of a medium difficulty for the most part, except for Take it on the Chin, which is fairly hard.

Concept: 7
Most of these games are old hat, but a few are new in concept and imaginatively designed.

Overall: 7.5
A good collection of activities for the pre-teen crowd, which can use some good software that's amusing. This game compares well to others that are similar in focus.
