GameShark SharkBoard Review

Mad Catz SharkBoard keyboard is a terrific value and solid peripheral

Ok, it doesn’t look like much. Sure, it’s a keyboard, but it seems a little lightweight and flimsy.

But looks can be deceiving, especially when referring to a keyboard bearing the name of SharkBoard.

Consider the name of the product. Most of the time, very little of a shark is seen before it attacks a surface prey. You may only see a tip of the dorsal fin, if at all. Seldom will the whole beast be revealed until it is too late. So it is with this Mad Catz peripheral. You see the keyboard, and then you plug it in and it devours you.

Why?

Well, let’s talk about responsive keys that feel solid as you type. Some keyboards have keys that when struck, seem to stagger, tremble or just feel ‘weak.’ Not the SharkBoard, key pressure is solid, and responsive.

The keyboard has some other features that are sure-fire winners as well. This is a USB keyboard, with a very long cord on it. While it connects easily to your PC, that is not the reason for the extended cord length. You see, this keyboard is not only for the PC but is compatible with the PlayStation2 and GameCube as well. It also is designed for easy code entry in many of the popular games, and codes can be updated through the gameshark.com Web site.

The keyboard itself has the standard supports to incline the board on a flat surface, but is full-sized and feels comfortable even in a lap.

This is a lightweight keyboard with heavyweight features.

This keyboard rapidly has taken over a major role in the PC and console setup of my house. It is light, features plug-and-play technology and is a pleasure to use. What more can one ask for?

Pros:

Lightweight, plug and play and solid key feel with easy code entry, across multiple platforms.

Cons:

None, really, unless you are hung up on having a cord to attach to your systems.

Verdict: 9

This is a dandy full-sized keyboard that bridges through several platforms and all for the low price of $29.99 suggested retail. The keyboard also has the full range of messaging services at the touch of a button for those used to that array. This is a terrific value in a versatile keyboard.
