Arghhhh! Mike and George were just innocently hanging around the new laugh energy machine, and it inexplicably exploded, sending machine parts everywhere! If they still want a job tomorrow, they had better get moving and find those parts!

In Mike's Monstrous Adventure, Mike must find all the missing laugh machine parts before the press conference in the morning, or he'll be on the unemployment line. To find these parts, Mike must search all over the factory, talking to his friends and co-workers along the way to elicit their help. The parts are in obvious places, but getting to them can be difficult. This is where Mike's ingenuity will come into play.

From Hulabee (the founders of Humongous) and Disney Interactive, comes a fun adventure game that is very similar to the Jr. Adventures series from Humongous, starring Freddi Fish, Putt-Putt and Pajama Sam. As in those adventures, the main character, Mike from Monster's Inc., must travel around the locations, talking to monsters he meets along the way. Many times, these monsters want to be helpful, but they'll need something in return. Sometimes it just takes knowing what to do to distract them and get past to another room.

The interface, too, will be familiar to fans of Humongous. The inventory and other helpful buttons are all on the bottom of the screen. There are scattered objects all over the factory, some of which are the missing factory parts, some which will help in retrieving them, and some are Mike's joke cards, that he will need to power up the laugh meter. Unfortunately, these objects do not appear to be randomized, unlike the Humongous games, except for the the joke cards that were somewhat randomized, but most of them aren't essential for game progress. After restarting the game numerous times, the main objects were always in the same place for every time we played.

The story is humorous, just as the game title claims. Mike and his cohorts are amusing, with plenty of silly one-liners. The joke cards are a nice touch, and kids will get a kick out of listening to them. There are also tons of funny clickables, and a great mini-game that is similar to four across.

The animation is wonderful, with brilliantly colored cartoon characters. The backgrounds are nice, and everything looks great. The sound is fine, mostly pleasant. I especially liked the elevator music in the elevator, that was a nice touch.

I was excited when I saw the name Hulabee on the opening credits of the game! I had no idea that Hulabee was involved in the game, as the box didn't list their company. But, sadly, my excitement faded once I had finished playing. The game was funny and cute while playing, but the adventure is extremely short and it was all over much too soon. And, with no randomization of major objects, once it's played a couple of times there's not much point. The clickables were great, but there was only one mini-game, which while a very good one, is still just one game.

While this is an amusing game, the brevity and the lack of replayability make it hard to recommend. If there were more things to do, such as more mini-games and more development to the joke cards motif, plus a longer storyline, then the lack of randomization wouldn't matter so much. However, this game is hard to recommend except to the younger players ages 4-6, who may not mind replaying the same ground again and again.

Gameplay: 7.5
The game is fun to play, but is over all too quickly. The story is short and the objects easy to find.

The music is nicely done and pleasant and fits the theme.

Difficulty: Easy
This game is very easy.

A great concept, using Mike from Monster's Inc. in an adventure game.

Overall: 7.2
A funny, amusing adventure, but one that will fail to hold most children's attention for very long due to lack of content.
