In recognition of his outstanding service at the Krusty Krab, SpongeBob Squarepants has been chosen yet again for Employee of the Month (27th month in a row). Mr. Krabs has decided that this momentous occasion calls for something out of the ordinary, and gives SpongeBob two free tickets to Neptune's Paradise, a theme park. SpongeBob and Patrick are raring to go, but just how does one get to Neptune's Paradise, anyway?

This second outing for SpongeBob will have players searching all over Bikini Bottom and other familiar scenarios on their quest to get Patrick and SpongeBob to the park of their dreams.

SpongeBob Squarepants: Employee of the Month is a traditional 3rd-person adventure for children, on the lines of the Humongous games featuring Putt-Putt, Freddi Fish and Pajama Sam, except that the items used in this game are not randomized. The difficulty of the games is closer to that of the Pajama Sam games, due more to the length of the game, than the difficulty of the puzzles. These are all fairly easy to solve and don't present as much challenge as many of the brain teasers in the early Pajama Sam games.

Players will need to talk to everyone, collect items and use these items to help the game's characters, who will then reciprocate by helping SpongeBob. The goal of the game is to direct SpongeBob to Neptune's Paradise, but the real fun of the game is in getting there. Just as in the TV show, this game has a unique and definitely weird sense of humor, which is enhanced by the use of the same actors' voices.

The game looks pretty much like the cartoon, except for the 3D appearance of the characters, but the backgrounds are all drawn the same way. The music is also on a par with the show's tunes.

This is a cute game which will appeal mostly to young fans of SpongeBob Squarepants. While lengthy enough for this type of game, the puzzles themselves are very easy to solve and the objects aren't randomized, so there is minimal replayability. Best for children ages 6-9.

Gameplay: 7.5
This is a fun children's game, but not one that presents much challenge or replayability.

Graphics: 8
We enjoyed the look of the game and found it attractive.

Sound: 7.5
The music and sound effects were very similar to the ones on the show, and fit the SpongeBob theme nicely.

Difficulty: Easy
Very easy puzzles.

Concept: 7
There is nothing new here, but the presentation is decent. A better variety and number of puzzles would have been welcome, and more mini-games.

Overall: 7.5
Children will enjoy helping SpongeBob get to Neptune's Paradise in this humorous game, but the trip will be short and is probably not one to be taken again.
