Safecracker

E3 2006 First Look Preview

One of the games that is being released by The Adventure Company for 2006 that looks like it could be particularly interesting is Safecraker. Slated for an August release, Safecracker puts you in control of an investigator hired to go through a mansion and find the wealthy owner’s will. The thing is, this owner was also extremely eccentric, and he has placed it in one of 35 safes. You have to go from safe to safe solving puzzles to open them up and then use clues that you find to figure out how to get into one of the other ones. Once you have gone through each of the 40 rooms and all the safes, the will shall be revealed. 

The gameplay will be very non linear, and the puzzles themselves will have a very Sodeku or Kakuro sort of feel to them (like moving a series of marbles around a variety of circles matching up certain colors). There will be no time limit in Safecracker either, so those of you looking for a good puzzler to get into similar to the Myst kind of thing where you can kick back and relax can do so here.  

Well, whatever’s in this will I sure hope it’s good since you have to go through so much to find it, and those of you looking for something to pass the time which will give you a puzzle challenge should be looking forward to getting hold of this one a little later on this year.
