SACRED 2: Fallen Angel Preview
Nearly selling 2 million copies of the original Sacred, Ascaron Entertainment returns to their beloved franchise with a follow-up that is reportedly one and a half times bigger in size than both the original Sacred and its expansion pack, Sacred: Underworld combined. With more than 10 regions to journey through, players will no doubt become acquainted with environments where trolls and orcs call home.
But what makes Sacred 2: Fallen Angel so special that it’ll attract everyone to play? Well let’s dig deep into what may possibly stick out as redeeming traits for the title.
Outside of its standard action-RPG fare, Sacred 2 is set to feature a beautiful seamless world for players to explore. What this translates to for gamers is that there’ll be no loading times when players enter into a dungeon. This perk should definitely interest fans of the genre no matter what their stance was on the original.
Employing six different character classes, players will have the eligibility to select from the following classes: Seraphim, High Elf, Dryad, Inquisitor, Shadow Warrior, and Temple Guardian. Of the six, the Dryads and Temple Guardians jump out from the rest as they’re classes that aren’t often used in other RPG titles. The Temple Guardians are cyborgs made of organic tissue and mechanical technology, while the Dryads are separatist elves who are similar to Druids due to that they are close to nature and keep to themselves.
Another portion that is highly interesting is the ability to ride a horse. If players decide to hop off the horse, the horse will follow you around and will come to your aide if you call for it. Within the demo though, the horse mechanics had a lot of glitches and often booted me from the game, so it wasn’t seen how complex this system works. On top of that, there’ll be other mounts, such as tigers, that players can ride.
The addition of cooperative play is going to weigh heavily into a player’s decision to buy Sacred 2. For the Xbox 360 and PS3 version, there’ll be two player coop offline where players share the same screen and up to four players online through Xbox Live or PSN. As for the PC version, it’ll feature up to sixteen players who can play with or against one another.
The multiplayer modes should surely open up eyes for those who look for more than single-player campaign. Included in Sacred 2 will be the ability to play Free Mode, which allows players to traverse through the game with their friends without having to worry about the storyline slowing them down from questing. There’s also two Arena Modes where players can cooperatively battle against computer enemies or against on another. On top of all that, there will be leaderboards included so players can view who are the best players within the Sacred 2 realm.
So what makes Sacred 2: Fallen Angel an interesting title to pick up this fall? It has to be all of these reasons above plus the ability to collect and upgrade your weapons throughout the game. If there’s one definite in the video game world, it’s that players must have their loot!
Sacred 2: Fallen Angel will hit store shelves late this September on the Xbox 360, PC, and PS3.
