E3 2006 First Look Preview
Call of Juarez is a first-person shooter developed by Techland Software. The game has a Western theme, putting you in the shoes of a man in the Wild West left to the brink of death only to be revived by a Native American fellow. Call of Juarez is a fast-paced FPS that looks sharp and feels great, and should be a unique take on the genre when it’s released this summer.
As I stated earlier, Call of Juarez starts with a Native American buddy saving your life. He then sets you up with a bow, and tells you to go out hunting for rabbits. This gets you in touch with the game’s controls, including a bullet-time feature that slows down time in order to allow you to get a shot off. You can also ride around on horseback to get from place to place.
Graphically, Call of Juarez looks pretty good, as well. The game uses the Chrome engine, so the end result is quite impressive. The character models are good looking and well animated and the environments look pretty solid.
From what I played of Call of Juarez, it feels like a solid Western shooter with some great gameplay elements and some impressive graphics. Look for it this summer.
