Techland is bringing the world of the wild west to life in amazing detail. The story behind the gameplay in Call of Juarez is interesting and engaging. The graphical quality is very high and the world is very realistic. First-person shooter fans will definitely enjoy Call of Juarez. Attention to detail mixes with innovative features to make this a solid title.

Set in the 19th century, Call of Juarez is the story of two men. Reverend Ray is a hard, uncompromising man on a mission. He is searching for Billy, a sneaky man accused of murder. Ray won’t give up his chase because it has become personal - Billy is accused of murdering Ray’s family!

Players get to experience both sides of the story between Reverend Ray and Billy. Each character has a different play style. Ray lets his guns do his talking, shooting his way through the opposition. Billy is sneakier. He uses a whip for self defense and moving around. Players can swing from chandeliers or pull items to themselves with the click of a button.

The duality of Call of Juarez is taken advantage of by the developers. During Ray’s missions you will be searching for Billy. As Billy you will be searching for anything you can find to throw in the path of the unflinching Reverend. This has consequences that the players have to deal with. If one character is too successful the next mission for the other character will be that much harder.

The world of Call of Juarez is done in impressive detail. The developers have put a lot of effort into detailing the world and it shows. Pieces of the world, like building signs, windows, and even doors can be demolished by the players. Players can pick up, move around, destroy, or damage anything they can see. I was amazed when I saw tumble weeds blowing down the street during the demonstration I was given.

The world is also historically accurate. Players can find actual guns that were used during the period. Six shooters, peacemakers, and shotguns are all available. When using pistols players have the option to shoot normally, fire with a pistol in both hands, and fire in the infamous “fast shot” stance, using their off hand to cock the gun quickly between firings.

The graphics on Call of Juarez are very well done. Objects have textures and the lighting is amazing. Walking under a tree you can watch the leaves blow in the wind- and their shadows follow them realistically. If you fire a shot into a door you’ll see the wood splinter under the impact. The grain will break and the bullet itself will be easily visible as it rests in the wood.

The story between the two main characters will be told with violence. Call of Juarez is a fun first-person shooter that will appeal to any fan. The developers have put a lot of detail into this game and it positively shines. The realistic environments and engaging gameplay will have players captivated for hours.
