Hard Truck Tycoon Preview
Whereas Hard Truck: Apocalyptic Wars is an action-packed, arcade-style vehicular combat game, Hard Truck Tycoon is an economic simulator. Guns and high-powered weaponry are replaced with agriculture. Living the life of a truck driver might not sound as exciting as that of a crime-fighting combatant, but it does pay the bills.
In Hard Truck Tycoon, your job is to manage the truckers and make sure they’re doing their job. The goals are the same as any businessman: find the most cost-effective way to complete each job. Profits can be increased with more clients, more trucks and more shipments – that’s the typical way of doing things. Lower your expenses and your profit rewards will be even greater.
Players can select 30 different truck models. They have to purchase them, just as they have to purchase any item they wish to have at their disposal. Drivers don’t grow on trees either; they must be hired and trained.
Scenarios are pre-determined, but that doesn’t mean the game is restrictive. Players have the freedom to do whatever they want within each scenario, and if that’s not enough, you can enter a randomly selected scenario at any time. Random scenarios won’t affect the course of the main game. Play them for extra experience, or just for extra fun.
Hard Truck Tycoon is played from an isometric view and features graphics that are akin to the classic Sim City games. Zoom in close and you’ll see that they’re a little more advanced than the SC games were. Buildings are individually rendered models, not square shapes with a fancy texture job. Freeways are accurately designed, creating a number of routes for your trucks to take when heading off to new destinations.
G5 Software is the maker of this Tycoon game. They should be very pleased with the results when it’s finished, as should the gamers who play it. You don’t have to like trucks to enjoy a simulation game that’s all about resource management, but if you do, there’s no telling how much fun you’ll have when Hard Truck Tycoon is released.
