Captain Blood Preview
E3 2006 First Look Preview
One genre of games that was showcased on many different forms at E3 was the third person shooter. There were sci – fi, medieval, RPG’s, you name it. Well, one area that didn’t seem to get a whole lot of attention is the swashbuckling pirate style of gameplay, and Playlogic is planning to release two of them, both of which are a little similar yet pretty different.
Age of Pirates – Captain Blood is a third person action / adventure title coming out for the PC that was heavy on the action element versus the character management or resource gathering part of some of these kinds of titles. For example, the demo showed Captain Blood taking on multiple groups of Spanish Conquistador enemies by hacking and slashing in different combo moves, and as his name implies … there was a lot of bloodshed.
There will also be unique finishing moves that he will be able to do, like ripping off various body parts, grabbing enemies by the back of the neck and shooting them in the stomach, or even a decapitation in the demo which left his enemy’s head rolling around on the deck still in the helmet.
The game is looking pretty decent so far, and the graphics engine was doing a good job on the part that was shown in leaving blood splatter on the ground or reflecting light off of the helmet, environment, and armor of the enemies and Captain Blood himself.
