E3 2004 PreviewsAnarchy Online started off pretty rocky, and many people didn’t feel that the game had very much staying power in the MMORPG market.  However, that was a good three years ago, and since that time Anarchy Online has shown a tremendous amount of staying power and has gone on to be one of the most successful MMO’s out there.  By allowing players control over building cities and personal tweaks, Anarchy Online is truly one of the most complex and customizable games out there.  Funcom even has a new expansion pack planned to ship this summer, Alien Invasion.  Living up to its namesake, Alien Invasion promises full-scale alien ship drop downs and epic battles in player built cities.  Fans of AO should take note, because the next step in the game is nigh at hand.

The biggest addition to Anarchy Online is the ability for players to build their own buildings and guilds within the game universe.  While there is still no PvP in cities, players building their own guilds can fit them with fight clubs, as well as other cool features like swimming pools.  You can also place animal heads (of creatures you’ve killed) on the walls of your guild as trophies.  The AI has also been greatly improved.  Enemies will attack players within their proper level bracket, keeping tough enemies from fighting weak and inexperienced players, as well as keeping lowly creatures from trying to take on beefy players.

The game will offer several other cool new features, like pet leets, when it’s released later this summer.
