Railroad Tycoon 3 improves upon its RTS roots by taking the series into the realm of the 3-dimensional. The game will feature a campaign mode and 25 different scenarios. The shift to 3D graphics means the game will be more immersive and will have an improved scale, which will add to the scope of the game. The game will go through day/night cycles and will feature changing weather and improved lighting effects. In terms of gameplay, the game will be a lot more strategy-based than previous titles, as players will have increased control over buying and selling property, what cargo they carry in their trains and many other aspects of gameplay. The game’s interface is a lot friendlier than its predecessor’s, as you can access things like the stock market much more easily.

Online play (with up to eight players) will be a lot more strategy-focused as well, and will require a lot more skill with commerce than other titles. If all proceeds as planned, look forward to Railroad Tycoon 3 this October.
