Hard Truck: Apocalypse Preview

Six vehicles. Several upgrades. Cinematic, off-focus videos (presented in real-time). Great graphics.

Those words and more describe the vehicular combat game Hard Truck: Apocalyptic Wars. The name might be a little odd, but see this game in action and you’ll forget all about that. (Only crazy people judge a game by its name or its box art.)

I didn’t get to play the game myself, but what I saw revealed that the battles are going to be fast. The world was comprised of factory settings, and judging by the screenshots, the rest of the game will be that way. It’s repetitive I suppose, but works well for this kind of game.

Since this was developed for the PC, players get to have the luxury of a fast, console-style game, with the view and aiming capabilities of a PC title. The mouse is your crosshairs, while the keyboard keys function as the analog stick (minus the analog feel).

Eight maps are being created for the game. The one I saw was pretty big, with lots to explore and plenty of hiding places. (Not that you’d need to hide. The point of the game is to hunt and shoot.)

The visuals aren’t quite finished but look really good in this stage of the game.
