SWAT 3: Close Quarters Battle Elite Edition Preview
The very old Police Quest series never seems to show its age and always exceeds our expectations of entertaining game play.
SWAT 3: CQB had all of the right stuff to make it a top favorite among gamers, but it lacked that one crucial element that makes most computer games shine above other
platforms...multiplayer. SWAT 3: CQB is very entertaining and has a lot of depth to game play, but multiplayer was not an option. All of the
SWAT fans cried foul and demanded their multiplayer to be given to them. Well, Sierra heard their cries and answered with Elite Edition.
Most game companies would release an add-on and charge extra for it, but not Sierra.
SWAT 3: CQB owners will be able to register their copy and download the Elite Edition from Sierra's website free of charge. If you haven't purchased Close Quarters Battle, then you are not deprived from this great add-on.
SWAT 3: CQB soon will be sold as SWAT 3: Elite Edition and will have the downloadable add-on already included on the CD. Either way, it's a win-win situation.
So what makes Elite Edition so great? I am glad you asked. Not only does it offer multiplayer with 22 levels to play across the Internet or your local area network, but it also offers new weapons, new single player missions, new people and skins, and development tools. Multiplayer has the standard modes of play: deathmatch, co-op, and last man standing. Multiplayer also has a cool custom chat that allows your player to say funny things and also can be changed in the option screen.
SWAT 3 places you as a SWAT leader and takes on missions from metro. Some missions are as simple as bringing one man to his senses and can be as complex as rescuing an entire house of hostages. Even without the Elite Edition add-on, this game is very good. Now the outstanding game play no longer just includes you, but can include your friends, as well.
Sierra has really come along way with their Police Quest/SWAT series. I am also very glad that they are offering the Elite Edition at no charge to the CQB players. The
SWAT 3: Close Quarters Battle just got 10 times better with Elite Edition.
