Exarch™ (pronounced ex’-ark), in development at Realm Interactive and published by NCsoft, features a fast-paced action RPG combat experience set in an enormous virtual world that blends the mystical, futuristic, and medieval together. Combining classic science fiction and fantasy elements, Exarch offers heroic characters, magic, mystical artifacts, medieval social and political structures, and a wide variety of weaponry and armor – all set in a robustly entertaining and realistic 3D world. With character, creature, and environment art conceptualized by famed comic book artist Joe Madureira, whose credits include Uncanny X-men, Battle Chasers, Excalibur, and the Deadpool Limited series, Exarch brings a fresh, exciting look and a definitive sense of style to MMP games. Characters, creatures, and environments created and rendered in 3D under Madureira’s direction will transport players to a new type of universe where the blend of the ancient and ultra-modern gives an unprecedented look and feel to this game. The meshing of vastly different time periods (medieval and future) and worlds (science fiction and fantasy) becomes all the more realistic in the stunning 3D game engine. Exarch takes place in a mysterious, mystical future. For nine millennia the Great Empire ruled the known universe. Now the Empire has collapsed, plunging the known worlds into a chaotic dark age ruled by feudal lords and oppressive religious dogma. Players choose sides in an epic struggle to determine the fate of all living things. Will you battle evil and help unite the fractured empire against certain doom, or will you side with the forces of darkness and bring even more disorder to this already chaotic world? In addition to such classic elements of science fiction as blasters, power armor, and alien creatures, Exarch includes elements that players have come to expect in the fantasy genre, including spell craft, swords, and medieval social structures. The Exarch play experience is drastically different from other MMORPGs. Combat is fast-paced and frantic, with action much more akin to games such as Diablo. Players find themselves battling hordes of monsters in a panicked fight for survival, which is in stark contrast to fighting single creatures at a relative slow pace. Everything in the game has been streamlined to enhance the experience. Aspects of typical MMORPGs that are considered tedious or boring have been simplified or removed, supporting a more energetic pacing for the game. For instance, use of waypoints makes travel easier, and randomly generated dungeons will provide enough creatures for all players to slay – players will not have to wait for monsters to respawn in any areas. Exarch features four primary races. From each race, players can choose one of three character classes specific to that race, giving a total of twelve different character classes. The character classes in Exarch have been designed to provide a varied play experience. Every class has a wide variety of skills and abilities, making each class unique from the others. Exarch also features a heavy emphasis on questing and factions. Factions play important roles in character advancement
