Set in the not too distant future; the player is The Evolva. The Evolva are elite troops who are the masters of the geno-hunters. They hold the key to the evolutionary processes and explore the outer reaches of the galaxy. Investigating a seismic anomaly on a faraway planet, the player controls a team of geno-hunters battling with ferocious guardian creatures as they attempt to unearth the mystery of a planet-busting parasite that is threatening mankind’s very survival. A revolutionary yet intuitive interface gives the player complete real-time control of their team of four geno-hunters allowing them to coordinate the actions of their teammates while engaging their foe. There are ten different weapon types, each with five power-ups. However, the player can’t just pick these weapons up in Evolva. When the player kills an enemy creature, the geno-hunters can mutate into new forms taking on the abilities of the defeated foes. For instance, kill a fire breathing creature, absorb its DNA, and the player can mutate their geno-hunters into a form which can breathe fire. With over a billion genetic combinations, no two players are ever likely to evolve the same set of geno-hunters. Internet multi-play will be a constant challenge as players evolve new teams of the ‘ultimate’ geno-hunters. Inspired by sources as diverse as Mayan art and the Barrier Reef, William Latham’s unique artistic style yields vision to a truly alien planet with bizarre creatures that, nevertheless, feels somehow familiar.
