M.A.X.2 is the highly anticipated sequel to Interplay’s critically acclaimed M.A.X.: Mechanized Assault and Exploration. Highlights include three gameplay modes including a real-time gameplay option that will provide explosive action for those who demand a fast-paced strategic wargame. Gamers will also be able to choose between simultaneous turn-based and classic turn-based gameplay. M.A.X.2 will also support Internet play via Interplay’s own matching service and up to 6 players can fight it out over the network or via modem. M.A.X.2 will offer an enormous range of missions and support both solitaire and multiplayer game variations.M.A.X.2 also introduces many new features including Variable View technology that allows players to rotate the map from a standard top down view to a 60? isometric display. Parallax scrolling allows units on higher ground to appear larger than units on lower ground, and gives players the realistic feel of soaring above the ground. Maps are fully rendered, adding unprecedented realism to the terrain. Many advanced gameplay options have also been added, such as Line-of-Sight, Configurable Fog-of-War with optional Attack Shading, Waypoint Commands, Formation Control, plus automatic functions, such as Auto-Move and Auto-Fire controls. An expanded set of upgrade options and research abilities, plus a complete scenario editor will also be included. Superior top-down SVGA graphics, complete game customization and multiplayer action offer endless replayability and create the gamer’s ultimate strategy game. In addition, an entirely new alien fighting force has been created, giving the gamer over 90 3D rendered fully customizable units. Combined with a non-scripted artificial intelligence that provides seven available difficulty settings, M.A.X.2 will challenge gamers of all skill levels. Set 15 years after M.A.X., the remains of humanity join together with the Concord, which consists of a variety of friendly alien races. The player must then match wits against the Sheevat, an ancient and ruthless civilization whose march through the universe has been systematic and brutal.
